    Rockland eyes ban or fee to cut plastic bag use

    Rockland is debating whether it will ban single-use plastic bags or impose a fee in an effort to reduce their use. The Rockland City Council discussed the matter at its Monday night, April 3, meeting in response to a presentation by Rob Pfeiffer of Lincolnville.     Effort launched in Midcoast to ban plastic bags

    The effort to ban single-use plastic bags will come to Rockland City Hall on Monday evening. The city council is scheduled to hear a presentation on a proposal that would either ban stores from giving out plastic bags for free or to impose a fee for each bag.
