NSF funds UMaine research into novel approach for eliminating PFAS
The National Science Foundation has awarded $250,000 for Onur Apul, an assistant professor of environmental engineering, to research how to remove “forever chemicals” from spent granular activated carbons used to absorb PFAS from drinking water — and then use thermal regeneration potentially to cause the PFAS to decompose.
