Youth hoop clinics start Jan. 11 at Flanagan Community Center
Program available free to RSU 13 childrenRockland — Thomaston Recreation Department officials announced on Monday, Jan. 4 the organization will offer free youth basketball clinics for children who reside in Regional School Unit 13.
The program, run out of the Flanagan Community Center located on the corners of Limerock and Union streets, will begin on Monday, Jan. 11 and will be held six weeks, with each grade to meet once a week for one hour.
Rene Dorr, Thomaston recreation director, said organizers will adhere to the state’s sports and community guidelines for safety during the pandemic.
There is no cost for the clinics.
RSU 13 encompasses Rockland, Owls Head, Thomaston, South Thomaston and Cushing.
Dates and times for each school and/or age group is as follows:
Monday — Grades K-2, Thomaston Grammar and Cushing Community School, 4-5 p.m.; grades 3-5, Thomaston Grammar and Cushing Community School, 5:15-6:15 p.m.; grades 6-8, Oceanside Middle School, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Tuesday — Grades K-2, South School, 4-5 p.m.; grades 3-5, South School, 5:15-6:15 p.m.; grades 6-8, Oceanside Middle School, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Wednesday — Grades K-2, Ash Point Community School, 4-5 p.m.; grades 3-5, Ash Point Community School, 5:15-6:15 p.m.; grades 6-8, Oceanside Middle School, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Thursday — Grades 6-8, Oceanside Middle School, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
