Rockland — Although somewhat cloudy, Saturday, June 23, was a perfect day for flying; smooth air and calm surface winds. The Young Eagle event was organized by Steve Turner and gave introductory flights to 41 young people and 19 parents. Every passenger landed full of enthusiasm for flying and many said they wanted to make flying their career.

The local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Knox County Flying Club usually hold a Young Eagle day at least once per year, weather permitting.
