Rockland — The Dancing Elephant will host Yoga & Live Cello, a special event with yoga instructor Taylor Ackerman and cellist Robin Lane, Saturday, Sept. 29, from 3 to 5 p.m. The studio is located upstairs at 16 School St., and the program is open to the public by donation. Preregistration is not required; attendees are asked to arrive five to 10 minutes early.

Yoga and live music are an inspiring and powerful pairing. This event will include all-levels yoga postures guided by Ackerman with cello accompaniment by Lane. Participants will experience synchronicity of breath, rhythm and creative yoga posture flows. The practice will end with deep relaxation to soothing cello sounds so everyone will leave feeling revitalized. All are welcome; no previous yoga experience is required.

Ackerman has been practicing yoga since 2008 and s trained in Hatha Yoga at Ashiyana Yoga Center in Goa, India, in 2011. She encourages awareness of the mind-body connection in her classes. Lane is a classically trained cellist who branches out into jazz, blues, electronic/digital and more. He uses his music to provoke conscious thought.

The Dancing Elephant is a community center for yoga, meditation and art located in downtown Rockland. All programs are donation-based and available for all levels. For more information, visit or contact Rachel Nixon at or 594-1694.
