Rockland — Beginning Tuesday, June 26, at 5:30 p.m. and continuing Tuesdays through the end of July, Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., will host a series of free beginner ukulele instruction workshops.

Frets Halligan has been playing and teaching ukulele and guitar privately and in groups for many years. He has been a catalyst for community uke groups in Maine including Belfast and Newport. He currently lives in Belfast and plays guitar and ukulele with the Belfast Bay Fiddlers.

Attendees are asked to bring their own ukuleles; the library also has a limited number of ukes for checkout to cardholders. Adults, young adults and children are all invited to take advantage of the workshops, which are part of The Arts…for Kids & Their Families series.

For more information, call Rockland Public Library at 594-0310.
