“Orchard in Winter #3,” a 1994 acrylic on canvas by John Wulp, is on view at Waterman’s Community Center on North Haven.

North Haven — The late John Wulp lived in an old farmhouse on Vinalhaven surrounded by an ancient orchard that was the subject of many of his paintings. Three of these paintings have been gifted to Waterman’s Community Center by Brook and Roger Berlind in the artist’s memory.

Because of their size and the many exhibits that grace the Community Room’s walls, the paintings will be on display on a rotating basis.

Waterman’s plans a number of events this summer in honor of Wulp’s work on the island, including a revival of “The Importance of Being Earnest”, the first full-length play Wulp did on North Haven; and table readings of some of his original plays and poetry.

The three paintings given to Waterman’s “Orchard in Winter #3,” a 1994 acrylic on canvas; “The Four Seasons Suite: Summer,” a 1996 acrylic on canvas; and “Golden Rod #1,” a 1989 watercolor on paper.
