World War I model building at the Farnsworth

Aug 10, 2019

ROCKLAND — On Saturday, Aug. 17, the Farnsworth Art Museum will present a workshop on model and diorama building. Led by Camden-Rockport middle school student Declan Buchanan, this program will take place at the museum’s Gamble Education Center from 1 to 4 p.m.

Inspired by the Farnsworth’s current exhibition, "Andrew Wyeth’s WWI," Buchanan will help participants construct and paint a small military diorama with plastic WWI figures and a variety of modeling materials. Buchanan is a member of the Southern Maine Scale Modelers. His scale models of WWI and WWII tanks and planes were recently awarded top junior honors at DowneastCon 2019. Participating children under the age of 8 should be accompanied by an adult partner.

The fee for this program is $15 and $10 for Farnsworth members, which includes gallery admission and materials. For more information or to register, please visit farnsworthmuseum.org.
