Women Who Care donates to P.A.W.S.

Rockland — In June, 100+ Women Who Care met at Watts Hall, 174 Main St, Thomaston, to hold its second quarterly meeting of 2019.

During the meeting, Carla Skinder advocated for Friends of Maine Coastal Islands, a nonprofit headquartered in Rockland that works to conserve coastal habitat for birds and other wildlife/sea life. Its focus is on educating children about the importance of conservation. To learn more go to

Sue diRosario shared information about Meals on Wheels in Knox County. Monday through Friday, MCH serves homebound seniors over 60 who reside in Knox County. Meals are cooked from scratch each day. To learn more, go to

Jan Campbell, spoke about P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, which provides care for homeless dogs and cats until they can be placed in permanent, responsible homes while promoting humane values in our community through outreach and educational programs. To learn more go to

After a brief question and answer period, members voted to donate the money raised that evening to P.A.W.S.

The next meeting will be held Sept. 3 at Watts Hall. The event begins with socializing from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m., and the meeting runs from 5:45 to 6:30. For more information, visit the One Community Many Voices and 100+Women Who Care Facebook pages or website.
