Ripley named Crown Princess; Berry voted Miss Congeniality

Rockland — Haylie Witham was crowned Maine Sea Goddess Aug. 2 in ceremonies at the 70th Maine Lobster Festival at Harbor Park.

A graduate of Oceanside High School in Rockland, Witham is the daughter of Troy and Dawn Witham of Spruce Head. She plans on attending Plymouth State University to study athletic training.

Shannon Ripley of Owls Head was named Crown Princess. She is the daughter of Edward and Daphne Ripley, and plans to attend Husson College to study physical therapy. She is a graduate of Oceanside High School.

Samantha Berry, daughter of Kendall Robinson, was named Miss Congeniality, a title voted on by the other contestants. She is also a graduate of Oceanside High School, and plans to attend Merrimack College to study early education.

A total of 14 Sea Princesses competed this year for the title of Maine Sea Goddess. Brianna Knutson of Warren served as Crown Bearer.

Gordon Page, executive director of Rockland Main Street, served as emcee, introducing each of the Sea Princesses. Members of the Rockland Coast Guard and the U.S.S. Mahan escorted the contestants during the coronation.
