Rumford — One thing that makes a long bus ride home not so long, is, well, a convincing win.

Such was the case for the Camden Hills boys lacrosse team on Wednesday, May 14 as the Windjammers traveled about 2.5 hours to square off with host Mountain Valley.

Windjammer coach Mark Hannibal said his team “was slow out of the gate,” but refocused and earned a 17-2 win over the Falcons.

Leading the Windjammer offense were Parker Lawson (4 goals, 5 assists), Jonah Cameron (3 assists), Marshall Spear (5 goals, assist), Jack Orne (2 goals, 2 assists), Simon Lydon (goal), Nic Marren (goal), Jack Gallagher (goal), Yani Stancioff (3 goals) and Grayson Szumilas (goal, 2 assists).

Aiden Gordon played in net for Camden Hills, while Szumilas scooped many ground balls in the win.

Information on Mountain Valley was unavailable.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Camden Hills (3-4, 5.6944 points) is seventh, while Yarmouth (5-1, 39.2361 points) is first in the 12-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
