Walk Through Bethlehem 2019

Chestnut Street Baptist Church’s Annual presentation of first century Bethlehem takes place during Camden’s “Christmas By the Sea” weekend.

Imagine a bustling 8,000+ square foot village with merchants, townspeople, artisans and dozens of live animals. Follow as a centurion leads you to the shepherd’s field’s where angels appear with the Good News and Gabriel announces to Mary the son she will give birth to.  Stroll through the city and get up-close and personal with more than 80 costumed cast members as they recreate the city of Bethlehem as it might have been on the night of Jesus’ birth.  Authentic sights, smells, tastes, and sounds greet guests as they make their way to seek out the manger and the Christ Child.

“Walk Through Bethlehem” portrays the events of the first Christmas in a powerful, live presentation. Experience the songs, sights, sounds, tastes and smells surrounding the story of Christ’s birth. Follow as a centurion leads you to hear Isaiah’s prophecies and see Gabriel telling the news to Mary.

Sample period refreshments at the Inn of Bethlehem and walk through the marketplace. Watch as basket weaving, spinning, carpentry and storytelling take place in the busy marketplace, then enter the peaceful stable where Mary and Joseph watch over baby Jesus.

We invite ALL to attend this FREE Christmas event for all ages. Friday, December 6, 2019, 6:30 pm-9:00 pm and Saturday, December 7, 2019, 5:00 pm-7:30 pm.
