Thomaston — Color Me Cured, a walk/run to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, will take place Saturday, Sept. 22, at the former Lura Libby School in Thomaston.

All proceeds from the walk will go to the foundation, a global organization that funds research on Type 1 Diabetes.

Approximately 1.25 million Americans have Type 1 Diabetes, and 40,000 are diagnosed every year. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that causes the pancreas to stop producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food.

Registration will take place at 9:30 a.m. the day of the race only, and will be $25 per individual, plus $7 for a T-shirt, with the registration fee waived and free T-shirts for individuals who raise at least $100 in donations. For teams, the registration fee is $25 for each member; teams that raise more than $300 will have the registration fee waived. All team members will receive free T-shirts, regardless of the amount of donations raised.

The walk/run will start at 10 a.m.
