By Staff | May 12, 2017

Waldoboro — The Waldoboro Recreation Department will host Pitch Hit & Run, the official skills competition of Major League Baseball, on Sunday, May 21 at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex.

Boys and girls ages 7-14 are eligible to participate in the event, which will begin at 2 p.m., with registration at 1:30 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, May 28.

Parents are required to bring a birth certificate for participating players to registration.

Pitch, Hit & Run is a grassroots program designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.

The competition includes pitching at a target, hitting balls from a fixed tee for distance and accuracy, and running for timed score.

Winners from the local competition will advance to the sectionals on Sunday, June 4 in Old Orchard Beach.

For more information, call Marcus Benner, Waldoboro Recreation Department director, at 832-5369.

A fine example of a municipal Recreation Department embracing the community and supporting its youth's chance for fun, health, and self-betterment.
