WALDOBORO, MAINE – Waldoboro Recreation Department is the proud recipient of new field hockey equipment thanks to a grant from the United States Field Hockey Program and Harrow Sports.

Leah Nickerson, Branch Manager at First National Bank and longtime field hockey enthusiast, wanted to start a field hockey program in Waldoboro. The equipment owned by the Waldoboro Rec was over 40 years old, so Leah knew she had to do something to help them out. She learned about the grants available from the United States Field Hockey Program and took it upon herself to apply. The grant was approved and on June 9, Leah presented Marcus Benner, Waldoboro Recreation Director, with $1,200 worth of new field hockey equipment.

Leah Nickerson, with Waldoboro Rec, will be offering a field hockey camp the week of July 17-21 for children in 4th – 8th grades.  The camp will be held at the Waldoboro Recreation Department from 5:30PM to 7PM. For more information or to sign up, call Marcus Benner at 207-832-5369.
