Waldoboro — Waldoboro police officers responded to 175 calls for service Aug. 11-18. Below are a few of the highlights:

Aug. 11

Officer Andrew Santheson arrested John Schmiz Jr., 34, of Warren, on a warrant.

Aug. 12

Officer Thomas Bartunek arrested George Gendron, 32, of Waldoboro, on a warrant.

Bartunek investigated a report of the theft of a canoe, value $600.

Aug. 13

Bartunek summoned Todd Allaire, 49, of Washington, for failure to stop at a red light.

Aug. 14

Officer Christopher Spear investigated a report of verbal harassment.

Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated a crash at the intersection of Atlantic Highway, Kaler's Corner and Winslows Mills Road at 9:15 a.m. Linda Colbath, 65, of Waldoboro, was waiting to pull onto Atlantic Highway from the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot driving a 2007 Jeep utility vehicle. Jamie Bannister, 25, of Lewiston, was behind her in a 2014 Nissan sedan. Colbath was pulled out too far and decided to back up and backed into Bannister. No injuries were reported.

Hesseltine investigated a crash on Atlantic Highway at 1:00 p.m. Roger Feltis, 22, of Waldoboro, was making a left turn across two lanes of travel from the westbound lane in a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck. Clarence Stanford, 86, of FL, was traveling east in the outside lane in a 2007 Toyota sedan. A vehicle traveling east was stopped in traffic on the inside lane when Feltis made a left turn in front of him, crossing into the path of Stanford causing the two vehicles to collide. Rita Sanford, 85, passenger in Stanford's vehicle received minor injuries.

Hesseltine investigated a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle.

Hesseltine investigated an under aged drinking party. Casey Palmer, 22, and Lindsay Lawyerson, 20, both of Waldoboro, were summoned for furnishing a place for minors to consume/possess liquor. Holly Boone, 26, of Waldoboro, was summoned for furnishing liquor to minors. More charges are likely pending.

Hesseltine investigated a report from Maritime Farms of an $81.00 gas drive off. Subject returned and paid for gas.

Aug. 15

Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report of an attempted burglary.

Aug. 16

Spear summoned Logan Grover, 18, of Wiscasset, for uninspected motor vehicle.

Aug. 17

Fuller arrested George Ganson, 31, of Bristol, on a warrant.

Aug. 18

Fuller investigated a report of the theft of some money from a motor vehicle.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
