Waldoboro — The Waldoboro Day 5-kilometer road race is one of the pillars of the annual Waldoboro Day — and this year’s running, the 21st annual — will be no different.

The event is set to begin on Saturday, June 16 at 8:30 a.m., with registration available the day of the race or by preregistration at or at Long Winter Soap Company in Waldoboro Village.

MVHS students also can run for $5.

The cost is $20; however, a $5 discount is available for Medomak Valley High School alumni — in honor of the school’s 50th anniversary — if they can provide a high school-aged photo to share for promotion of the event.

The race begins and ends in downtown Waldoboro, with the race stretching to Pine Street, West Maine Street, Mill Street, Jefferson Street, Atlantic Highway (Route 1) and back onto Main Street to the finish.

Runners also can participate in the event as a team, as the winning team earns a private tour and tasting at Odd Alewives Farm Brewery in Waldoboro.

There also will be a whoopie pie table at the midway point of the race, with whoopie pies donated by Moody’s Diner.

Proceeds for this year’s race is a fundrasier for the Waldo Theatre, which is raising money for a new roof.

The race also is the inaugural run of the Run Midcoast Maine series.
