Rockland  Maine – August 15, 2014: Veteran’s, their widows, widowers or children have you discovered any or all of the benefits that you may be entitled to? Maine has a variety of benefits available to qualifying veterans and dependents in addition to those offered by the federal government. On August 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Spectrum Generation Knox Community Center, 61
Park Street in Rockland, Conrad Edwards, Veterans’ Advocate for the State of Maine, Bureau of Veterans’ Services will discuss the many state and federal benefits available to community members who served in the U. S. military or who are the widow or dependent of a US Veteran.

Find out about:

• New Veterans Administration (VA) education and training benefits.

• Training available at local educational institutions.

• Services provided by the State Veteran’s Services Officer.

• The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Mobile Service Office

• Veteran’s Hosptial

• Maine’s Veterans’ Homes

• The VET Center van


Conrad will answer questions on how the Affordable Care Act affects veterans.  Gloria Rhode, the Knox Community Center’s Aging and Disability Resource Counselor will be on hand to give updates on current Money Savings Benefits, Medicare’s Annual Wellness Visit and Medicare Preventative Benefits.


Veterans are encouraged to bring a guest to this program. Although pre-registration is not required to be eligible to participate, if you do plan on coming or will be bringing a guest, advance notice is appreciated.  Please call 596-0339.
