Rockport — The driver of a vehicle that crashed on Meadow Street March 12 around 7:30 p.m. was charged with operating under the influence, and the passenger in the vehicle was flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

John Dodge, 33, of Rockport, was arrested, charged with operating under the influence, and transported to the Knox County Jail, according to Camden Police Chief Randy Gagne. Speed and alcohol are contributing factors in the crash, Gagne said.

Passenger Josh Peaslee, 31, of Appleton, had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Rockport Fire Department, and was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center with what Gagne said appeared to be serious injuries. LifeFlight transported Peaslee from Pen Bay to EMMC.

Dodge did not require medical assistance, according to Gagne.

At the scene, Gagne said the sedan was heading north on Meadow Street toward Route 90 when it crashed.

"It looks like it may have gone on its roof at one point and hit a tree," Gagne stated.

Camden and Rockport Police Departments, Rockport Fire Department and mutual aid from Hope Fire Department responded to the call.

A crash reconstruction was undertaken at the scene by the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, according to Gagne.
