Updated: Police release names of Route 90 car crash victims

Three people injured in single-vehicle crash

Rockland — Three people were seriously injured in a vehicle that rolled over onto its roof off Route 90 near Prince's Furniture Thursday, Aug. 29.

The vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, appeared to be headed east on Route 90 from Warren to Rockport when the crash occurred, though the cause is still unknown. The crash was reported shortly after 2 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle -- Katelyn Thomas, 18, of Rockland -- was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. A passenger -- Alex Lewis, 19, of Farmingdale and Rockport, -- also was taken to Pen Bay.

A second passenger -- Gabrielle Keene, 17, of Waldoboro -- was flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland with critical injuries.

Maine State Police responded to perform an accident reconstruction to try to determine the cause.

Route 90 from Tolman Road to Mill Street was closed to traffic shortly after the crash. The road was reopened shortly before 4:30 p.m.

Northeast Mobile Health Services and Rockland Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded, along with Rockland Police. Warren and Rockport emergency crews also responded. Knox County Regional Communications coordinated responses of the various departments.

Fuel was leaking from the vehicle.
