Union candidates night planned

Meet the people running for selectmen

Union — The town of Union/Courier-Gazette will be sponsoring a candidates night on Monday, June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Union Town Office. Candidates for selectmen (two contested seats), school board (not contested) and treasurer (not contested) will be invited. After opening statements from the candidates, the floor will be opened to questions from the citizens.

Two contested races are on the ballot as Union prepares for its June town meeting and elections.

Abraham Knight and Sara Moore are vying for one three-year term on the Board of Selectmen.

Walter Ashworth is challenging incumbent Greg Grotton for a two-year term.

Town Treasurer Linda McAllister is running for re-election for another year. Ann Donaldson is running uncontested for school board.

The election will be held Tuesday, June 12 at the town office. Polls are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Selectmen have approved the warrant for the town meeting to be held Monday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at the town office.

Linda McAllister has done such a great job for so many years, she should  be made permanent treasurer for life.
