Unemployment checks may be delayed

Apr 07, 2020

Maine Department of Labor has issued a statement that because of the unprecedented volume of people receiving benefits, some of the tens of thousands of unemployment benefit payments that were scheduled to process Monday, April 6 were delayed. This means that some of the people who filed their weekly claim on Sunday or Monday, and who were therefore expecting a payment Tuesday, April 7, will see a delay of up to 72 hours in receiving their weekly benefit. The DOL asks applicants to keep checking with their financial institutions.

Weekly certifications can be filed starting on Sunday for the previous week. Applicants who can wait until later in the week to receive a payment can file anytime Tuesday through Friday.
