Ultimate Dracula classic ‘Nosferatu’ closes out October film series

Oct 12, 2019
Max Schreck stars in “Nosferatu” (1922, Germany).

THOMASTON — The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library’s Friday Night Film Series, screening films weekly at 6:30 p.m. in Room 200 of the library, 60 Main St./Route 1, highlights “Creepy and Chilling” movies for October.

On Friday, Oct. 18, the series screens “Nosferatu” (1922, Germany), a brilliantly eerie, superbly atmospheric version of “Dracula.” Full of imaginative touches that have yet to be recaptured by the many remakes, this is, without a doubt, the best directed version of the Dracula story. A great script and superb visuals make it a must-see. The film stars Max Schreck and Greta Schroeder, and is directed by the great German filmmaker Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau.

The unrated film runs 66 minutes. This film closes out the series for the month. The November series begins on Nov. 8.

Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. The Thomaston Academy Building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
