Nov 24, 2017

Rockland — The Ripple Initiative, a Rockland nonprofit that helps people in need, holds an Ugly Holiday Sweater contest and silent auction Friday, Dec. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at High Mountain Hall, 5 Mountain St., Camden. The event will include food, music, a 50/50 raffle and a prize of a gas grill for the wearer of the ugliest sweater. Proceeds benefit The Ripple Initiative.

Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door. Advance tickets are available at The Ripple Shop, 26 Rankin St., or Over the Rainbow Yarn, 18 School St.

The Ripple Initiative was founded in May 2016. Its mission is to provide a platform for donating, volunteering, and contributing to the well-being of neighbors in need. The organization works with other nonprofits, businesses, and community members to lessen the impact of financial struggle, whether short- or long-term.

The nonprofit is funded in part by The Ripple Shop, a retail outlet for used furniture and household goods. In addition, the organization donates furniture and household goods to families transitioning to stable housing, provides holiday cheer to struggling families and furnishes beds to those in need.
