Union — Two people were taken to the hospital on Labor Day after a three-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Union.

The crash was reported at 12:44 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, when Jane Bowker, 66, of Rhododendron, Ore., was driving west on Route 17 and tried to make a left turn onto Town House Road (Route 235). Bowker drove her 2017 Ford sedan into the path of an eastbound 2016 Honda sports utility vehicle driven by Jerry Morrell, 60, of Vassalboro, according to Knox County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.

Morrell was unable to avoid Bowker and struck her in the passenger side of her vehicle.

The crash also caused Morrell to veer right and strike a 2004 Toyota, driven by Roxanna Jones, 51, of Washington, that was stopped at the intersection.
Bowker and Morrell were taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport by ambulance. The two complained of pain.
Union Fire and Ambulance and Northeast Mobile Health assisted at the scene.
