(Thomaston) – Trekkers is pleased to announce two staff updates at their organization. Alaina Ennamorati, who joined the staff as Development Assistant in late March, has transitioned over to Program Manager, filling an open position. Shari Closter joined the Trekkers team as Development Assistant in late May, stepping into the opening created by Ennamorati’s transfer to the program position.


Alaina grew up in Waldoboro, Maine, and served at Trekkers from September 2012 to August 2013 as an AmeriCorps member. She is a graduate of Northeastern University with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Spanish. She also has a Masters Degree in Intercultural Service, Leadership and Management from the SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont.


As an AmeriCorps member, Alaina was a Program Coordinator at Trekkers, where she took on many administrative tasks as well as ran the Big Trek/Little Trek afterschool mentoring program. Alaina also supported staff with educational expedition planning and was a leader on 10 expeditions ranging from 3-14 days across Maine and the continental United States.  As Program Manager, Alainia will be responsible for facilitating programs and leading educational expeditions for 60 students each year.


“I had such a rewarding experience at Trekkers during my AmeriCorps term. I am truly excited about the opportunity to serve the organization by stepping into the program management role,” said Alaina Ennamorati.

Trekkers also welcomes Shari Closter as its new Development Assistant. As Development Assistant, Shari will focus her energy on marketing, publicity, community outreach and organizing student and organizational fundraisers. She will also work on social media communications, alumni relations, and other development efforts.

Shari was born into a career Air Force family, moving every few years during her early childhood. She graduated with a BS in Marketing Degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University and worked in various sales positions in the high tech industry in Massachusetts for several years. Shari worked in government contracting and marketing for a Midcoast rope manufacturer for six years, then spent the last 17 years of her career in various leadership and management positions with the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce (formerly Rockland-Thomaston Area Chamber of Commerce). Most recently, she had worked on a contract basis as Office Manager for the Strand Theatre in Rockland. Shari’s passion and interests are focused on building relationships and community outreach, always striving to make a difference in the local community and organizations for which she serves.

Speaking about the latest organizational changes at Trekkers, Executive Director Don Carpenter stated, “Throughout the evolution of our expansion, we have sought to fill new and existing positions with the highest quality people we can find. We feel blessed that our most recent hiring process has led us to two amazing human beings in Alaina and Shari. I look forward to seeing their gifts and talents in action.”
