Town office hours extended in Waldoboro

Waldoboro — In order to accommodate residents, the Board of Selectmen voted Jan. 8 to extend the operating hours for town business.

At the recommendation of Town Manager Julie Keizer, who said she is in the process of working through a list of "to-do" items, the board approved the new hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"That will give the people the opportunity to come in early or come in late to do their business," Keizer said.

She said the option of closing the office on Fridays, as many area town offices do, was not considered because that would be less convenient for the public.

Instead of office personnel working five eight-hour days, they will work four 10-hour days, according to Keizer, who added that she will be in the office all five days.

"That was something that was brought up a long time ago," Keizer said, and it was one of the goals on her to-do list"

The new hours will go into effect Monday, Jan. 14.
