Town of Union receives grant for voting safety

Sep 28, 2020

Union — The town of Union received a grant to ensure safe and secure election administration in the upcoming 2020 elections.

The $5,000 grant from The Center for Tech and Civic Life, a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Ill., was awarded to Union after a comprehensive application process.

The grant stipulates that the funds must be used to enhance "non-partisan voter education, personal protective equipment for staff, poll workers or voters, poll worker recruitment funds, hazard pay and/or training expenses. Also, funding is provided for temporary staffing, vote-by-mail or absentee voting equipment or supplies and election administration equipment.”

The Center for Tech and Civic Life initiated their Covid-19 response grant program to provide funding for local election jurisdictions nationwide to help ensure the staffing, training and equipment necessary so that this November, every eligible voter can participate in a safe way to have their vote counted.
