Rockland — Tonya Jeanette Walsh, 57, passed away peacefully April 12, 2018, at Pen Bay Medical Center after a three-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Tonya was born May 20, 1960, in Rockland, the daughter of Adrien Polky and Beverly Upham; her mother predeceased her.

Tonya grew up in Rockland and was a 1978 graduate of Rockland District High School. Upon graduation, she married Richard Walsh of Rockland and started her family. They lived in Owls Head and later in South Thomaston.

She was employed for 20 years at Shaw’s Supermarket as a seafood manager.

Tonya enjoyed crafting, quilting, gardening, shopping for others, spending time at the beach and cooking. Throughout her life, Tonya was devoted to her family and friends. Her most cherished moments were times spent with her three grandchildren, Dannaleigh, Deklin and Islah.

Tonya will be forever remembered and missed by her husband of 34 years, Richard Walsh; her son, Jason R. Walsh; her daughter, Jenna Leigh Walsh; and grandchildren Dannaleigh, Deklin, and Islah, all of Rockland; her father, Adrien Polky, and his wife, Diane, of Kent’s Hill; stepfather Raymond Upham of Rockland; brother Jeff Polky and his wife, Amy, and their sons, Jacob and Aren, of Tenants Harbor; her brother Raymie Upham and his wife, Tammy, and their sons, Nick and Zack, of Tenants Harbor; her brother Chad and his daughter, Karla, of Port Clyde; and brothers Michael, David and Walter Polky of Kent’s Hill.

Tonya will also be forever remembered by her aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, in-laws, extended family and dear friends, most importantly, Jeanmarie Koenig and Jackie Palmer.
