'Tis the season for 'Christmas at the Chapel'

Nov 28, 2019
Sue Tolman puts the finishing touches on the tree in the Rockville Community Chapel.

Rockville — Once again, the special “Christmas at the Chapel” program will be held at the Rockville Community Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m.

While no longer an active church, the chapel built in 1851 is significant for being the last public building in the village of Rockville (now part of Rockport).

The church, lovingly and authentically restored, is located on Old Rockland St., which runs parallel to Rte. 17, directly behind the Green Thumb.

After a period of 50 years, the Christmas program tradition was re-established two years ago. In addition to Christmas carols and songs performed by students from Pen Bay Christian School, Reverend Linwood Welch from Warren Baptist Church will deliver the Advent message.
