Tip-a-Cop to raise funds for Special Olympics Aug. 15

Applebee’s of Thomaston will be hosting its annual Tip-A-Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics Maine Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m..

Local law enforcement, fire and EMS members and prison guards will be volunteering their time assisting the waitstaff to raise money for Special Olympics. Envelopes will be left on every table and patrons may tip any amount anonymously toward the cause. During the last three years, this Thomaston event set state Tip-A-Cop records for the most money raised.

Troy Peasley of the Rockland Police Department and Thomaston Applebee’s staff are organizing the event.

In hindsight, next time around do NOT have all the vehicles' emergency lights going. It likely kept people away from Applebee's that day, assuming that something bad was happening there. I certainly was worried.
