Tibetan nuns are front and center in film screening

Jan 07, 2020
"Blessings: the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet" shows Jan. 17 at The Dancing Elephant in Rockland.

Rockland — On Friday, Jan. 17, at 6:30 p.m. The Dancing Elephant hosts a screening of "Blessings: the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet." This is the first in a series of movie nights on the third Friday of every month at 14 School St. The event is open to the public by donation.

"Blessings" tells the story of renowned Buddhist teacher Tsoknyi Rinpoche III and a group of western students as they travel to the Nangchen region in Eastern Tibet in 2005. The purpose of their journey was to meet the Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns, 3,000 remarkable women who live and practice an ancient yogic tradition in nunneries and hermitages scattered across this remote, mountainous region. There will be tea offered and a discussion following the movie.

The Dancing Elephant is a downtown community center for yoga, meditation and art. All programs are donation-based and available for all levels. For more information, visit rocklandyoga.com or contact Rachel at rachel@rocklandyoga.com or 594-1694.
