Another round of snow has arrived in the Midcoast today.

An area of low pressure moved in from the west and tracked through southern New England Wednesday night and will move through the Gulf of Maine on Thursday. The snowfall will continue through the day before coming to an end early Thursday night.

Snow totals will range between 2" to 5", lowest for coastal islands and peninsulas, with a swath of 4" to 8" possible north of our coastal counties and parts of Downeast Maine.

Winds will be fairly light Thursday morning, but pick up late in the day from north and northwest as a blast of cold air moves in. We'll see highs on Thursday in the upper 20's to low 30's with lows dropping into the single digits to near 0 by early Friday with wind chill values of -5 to -15. We'll see highs on Friday only reaching the low teens despite sunny skies with wind chill values holding near or below 0.

Another winter storm will follow for the weekend with snow beginning Saturday night and continuing into Sunday morning, mixing with rain at times along the coast. This storm has the potential of greater snow accumulation than our Thursday storm.

Closures and delays:

The Knox County Administrative Offices, Knox County Superior Court, and Rockland District Court will all be closed, today, Thursday Jan. 16, due to the storm. They will re-open on Friday Jan. 17, at 8 a.m.
