Thomaston recreation holds basketball sign-ups, evaluations

Thomaston — With basketball season around the corner, the Thomaston Recreation Department will hold sign-ups and evaluations for children in third- through sixth-grade on Wednesday, Nov. 6, and Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Thomaston Grammar School.

The program is free for Thomaston residents, with a $50 fee for non-residents.

Girls in grades 3-6 will be evaluated on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Boys in grades 3-6 will be evaluated on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 6 to 7 p.m.

League officials encourage children to sign-up in the town in which they reside.

Youth basketball is broken down by age:

Grades 3-4: One practice during the week, with games on Saturdays. Games may be against other towns in the area.

Grades 5-6: Competitive league with playoffs. Children play at multiple locations around the area with games on weeknights and Saturdays.
