Thomaston Deputy Clerk resigns

Thomaston — The town of Thomaston is once again on the hunt for a new Deputy Tax Collector and Deputy Town Clerk.
Alexenia Payor, who was hired for these positions in October, has tendered her resignation.
The pandemic, combined with a controversial and difficult election in November, created what Payor described as a perfect storm.
Stress from the death of her brother and sister-in-law in June added to Payor’s decision as well. “This was a really hard year,” she added.
Payor said she had the opportunity to go back to school and decided to take that step. She will be majoring in mechanical engineering through the University of Maine at Orono.
The town's website posted a job listing for the position Jan. 7.
The Select Board was scheduled to accept the resignation at their Jan. 11 meeting. That meeting has been rescheduled to Jan. 19.
The Thomaston Town Office remains open by appointment only.
