Thomaston Churches to Mark One Year of Ringing Bells

Last year on March 15, as the lockdown began, the Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist, the Thomaston Federated Church and the Thomaston Baptist Church began ringing their bell each night at 8 pm in prayer and support of our first responders, health care workers and those helping fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

They have been faithful in ringing the bells every night during this time, a simple act of solidarity and a way to join in when there seems to be such limited options.

All are always welcome to join in with the ringing, it is simply an act done by those who show up to ring the bell, both from the churches and from the towns.  Some even simply stand on their porches and bang a pot or two.

On Monday, March 15th this year, there will be a special ringing of the bells at 8 pm to mark the one year anniversary and to add in our prayers a thanksgiving for the arrival of vaccines and for more of them to arrive in our state.
