THOMASTON — Local artists are offering self-guided tours of their studios on Saturday, Sept. 14. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the public is welcome to visit the working studios to see a variety of artwork and demonstrations. Participating artists include Nancy Baker, Susan Van Campen, Autumn Cipala, Cynthia McGuirl, James Murdock, Linden O’Ryan, Tim Van Campen, Amy Williams, Kevin Beers, Lorena Stackpole and Greta Van Campen. The group works in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics.

Last year, Greta Van Campen organized the tour as a way to connect the public to the many artists who make their homes in Thomaston. New to the tour this year is artist Nancy Baker. She says of her new studio space, “This recently constructed studio complements the adjacent 19th century Victorian home. Many examples of my work in oil, charcoal, pastel and watercolor will be on view. Work that is currently underway will give a glimpse of my process and provide an opportunity to answer questions visitors may have. I'm grateful to live in this village, in the company of so many gifted artists.”

The Open Studios website also has links to other businesses and activities that are happening in Thomaston. Flyers with maps are available from the artists, at local businesses and online at thomastonopenstudios.com.
