Thomaston area departments contain fire at house

Thomaston — Thomaston and neighboring fire departments were able to quickly extinguish a fire Friday, Nov. 13 at a house on Knox Street.

The call came in shortly after 9 a.m. at 49 Knox St. There was fire reported inside and smoke was visible in the back of the building.

Thomaston Fire Chief Mikial Mazzeo said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A visitor to the house noticed smoke coming from the ridge vent of the roof and when the person entered the house, the smoke alarms activated. The visitor, a tenant and dog were able to get out safely.

The fire was extinguished before 10 a.m. Fire damage was limited to a bathroom and adjacent room with smoke throughout the house. The house is owned by Mary Ann Kleschick of Philadelphia, Penn.
