Rockland — The first in a Third Thursday Reading Room Concert Series program of live music to be enjoyed by people of all ages will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Reading Room of Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St.

Local duo Dusty & Joanna are acoustic musicians who blend their voices together in rich harmonies; Joanna Pinkham plays the six-string guitar; and Dusty Pease plays the autoharp, six string guitar and mandolin. Joining them are two other fine local musicians: Ray Montana on the bass and vocals; and Peter Proeller on the five-string banjo and vocals. Together, they perform an eclectic mix of songs ranging from The Carter Family and folk songs to gospel, bluegrass, old-time favorites, originals and songs of the sea.

The next event in the new series will be a Holiday Sing-along with pianist Sojourner Hodges and other guests Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. The events, sponsored by the Friends of the Rockland Library and the library, are free and open to the public. For more information, call 594-0310.
