CAMDEN — The Mill Nutrition Smoothie & Shake shop in Camden makes energizing teas, protein meal-replacement shakes with Herbalife products and coffee drinks, all without sugar.

The new shake and smoothie business opened April 2.

Energizing chai, cinnamon and fruit-flavor teas come in three levels: Base, with aloe; Liftoff, with aloe plus vitamins; and Lit, which is Liftoff plus a special ingredient. On top of that, there are 24 more flavors. Ice and frozen coffee 'freshies,' have no caffeine and no sugar.

Shakes with 200-300 calories, 24 or more grams of protein and less than 10 grams of sugar come in a dazzling array of flavors.

The most popular flavors list includes "peanut butter cup," "fluffernutter," and strawberry cheesecake." There are vanilla-flavor shakes and chocolate shakes like thin mint and chocolate-covered pretzel. Fruity shakes and coffee drinks include blueberry cheesecake and vanilla caramel latte.

Extras can be added into the shakes, like New Mom Booster vitamins and minerals or a collagen beauty booster. A number of the shakes are gluten free.

Store manager Erika Felt explained that nothing has sugar in it, and sweetening and all the fun flavors are stevia-based.

The shakes are meant to be meal replacements, mostly for breakfast or lunch, she said. The hydrating teas, can help "replace the coffee in a lot of people's day and get the sugar and cream and bad stuff out of your system."

Felt and the mixologists were trained in making shakes, teas and coffee drinks by the owners of Breakwater Nutrition in Rockland, an affiliated store. They taste-test everything to perfect the drinks, and can make recommendations on what to choose for pre- and post-workout, hydration and more.

Zack and Marlene Cohn, The MILL's owners, renovated the shop with a sleek, shake-bar look. Marlene Cohn said she loves to renovate, and enjoyed opening the new business. They brought in Murray Builders, Hedstrom Electric, a local plumber, and the process with the town went smoothly, she said.

The MILL Nutrition is located at 25 Mechanic St., next to Green with Envy at the corner of Washington Street. For hours, menus and more information, check out the Facebook page or email
