Rockport — Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Teen Agricultural Crew and staff invite the public to join them for a presentation Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Camden Hills Regional High School, 25 Keelson Drive in Rockport. The presentation, starting at 3:30 p.m. in the cafeteria, will be an opportunity for the public to learn about the Teen Ag Crew program that grows a four-acre vegetable garden at Erickson Fields Preserve on Route 90 in Rockport.

The produce from the market garden is distributed to eight food relief agencies throughout Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties, as well as MSAD 28, Quarry Hill Retirement Community and several local restaurants. Through diligent, cohesive team work the Teen Ag Crew manages — from seed to distribution — over 30 different crops at Erickson Fields, learning the A-Z’s of market garden production. This past season the Teen Ag Crew produced over 16,000 pounds of vegetables, most of which supplied local food pantries through a contract with Good Shepard Food Bank. Since the program started in 2010, the Teen Ag Crew has distributed over 100,000 pounds of produce to local food pantries.

During the presentation, attendees will meet the high school crew members, sample dishes featuring Erickson Fields produce and learn about youth-led food security and access projects happening in the Midcoast. For more information and to RSVP, contact or call 236-2739.
