Oct 12, 2017

Rockland — Rebecca Jacobs, program manager of Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District, will introduce visitors to the plants “from away" -- like the Asiatic bittersweet smothering a tree in the photo above -- that disturb natural ecosystems and replace native vegetation that defines our region and on which wildlife depends Thursday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at  the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 9 Water St. Participants will learn how to recognize key invasives and explore control and prevention strategies. Admission is by donation. For more information, call 594-0600, ext. 5.
