Talk: So You Think You Know Maine?

Maine writer, Tim Caverly, will speak at Merryspring Nature Center Sept. 24.

Camden — Maine writer and humorist Tim Caverly will present an interactive presentation called “So You Think You Know Maine?” at Merryspring Nature Center, 30 Conway Road, Camden, Tuesday, Sept. 24 at noon.

This quiz show-style will cover the birthplace of Disney's Bambi, northern forest ice caves, abandoned railroads, ancient pictographs, oceanic whirlpools and tales which can only be described as “Classic Maine.” Learn why there is a cove in Washington County called “Bailey's Mistake” and where in Maine occurred the event that today is known as the "Lexington of the Seas."

Caverly has self-published seven books about New England’s northern forest. His stories have been printed in newspapers, magazines and outdoor journals. He previously spent 32 years working as a Maine state park ranger and is a founder of the New England Reads literacy project.

This event is part of the Summer Talk series. Admission is $5, with free admission for members of Merryspring.
