Talk on 'The Art of Being Human' set for Jan. 19

Buddhist teacher Nick Kranz speaks Jan. 19 in Rockland.

Rockland — Shastri Nick Kranz will give a public talk entitled “The Art of Being Human” Friday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Rockland Shambhala, 16 School St. The talk is free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully appreciated.

The public talk is the kick-off for Shambhala Level I, a mindfulness meditation training that develops fearlessness, confidence, openness and gentleness. Kranz will introduce the practice of meditation and discuss unconditional basic goodness as the ground of our existence. Shambhala welcomes people of all religious traditions, as well as those who do not follow a particular spiritual path.

Kranz is a senior Buddhist teacher and leader in cultural transformation. He developed the timely practice of social meditation, which is practiced in Shambhala centers around the globe. He has worked with youth leadership in the Shambhala community for the last decade. Kranz was appointed Shastri (senior Buddhist teacher) by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in 2013.
