Talk on 'Art of Being Human' slated for Oct. 20

Shastri Veit Weber speaks in Rockland Oct. 20

Rockland — Shastri Veit Weber will give a public talk entitled “The Art of Being Human”  Friday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Rockland Shambhala, 16 School St. The talk is free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully appreciated.

The Art of Being Human is the opening night talk for Shambhala Level I, a secular meditation training that develops fearlessness, confidence, openness and gentleness. Weber will introduce the practice of meditation and discuss unconditional basic goodness as the ground of human existence. Everyone is welcome.

Weber was appointed Shastri, or senior Buddhist teacher, by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in 2010. He oversees Shambhala Practice and Education in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, Canada. Weber is a third-generation blacksmith. He runs Weber's Ironworks in Nortondale, New Brunswick.
