Talk: Bats of North America

Coastal Mountains Nature Program
Dec 30, 2020
Bat expert David Yates will speak on Zoom Jan. 14.

Camden — Coastal Mountains Nature Program will co-host an online Zoom presentation, “Bats of North America: Facts and Fiction” at 6p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, with the Camden Public Library. David Yates, mammal program director and co-director of the Center for Ecology and Conservation at the Biodiversity Research Institute in Portland, will share his knowledge of bats, which are increasingly of high conservation concern. There are over 1,300 (and counting) bat species in the world and 49 are found in North America. Bats require a complex mix of habitats, including old-growth wooded forests for roosting and open areas or wetlands for feeding.

Email Julia at jpierce@librarycamden.org to request a link to attend. The presentation platform is limited to those who get an invitation from the library.
