Sunday 4-5 p.m. 10/29 John Root, city code enforcement officer to speak at Speaker's Corner in Rockland

written Sunday at 7 p.m. John Root came to Speaker's Corner and read some of his poetry. There was light attendance, which is too bad... because we had an amazing time with good connection, and listening well to one another. John Root was interesting and showed more personality than just being a Code officer. I say we're lucky to have him for 23 years as our Code officer, here in Rockland .Thank you John.

yes, it's true, on Sunday, October 29, John Root, Rockland’s very own Code Enforcement Officer, will speak at the Rockland Speaker’s Corner October 29 4-5 p.m. Yes, I'm repeating myself. I'm really happy that he has agreed to come and speak with all of us. John has been our Code Enforcement Officer for approximately 23 years. That's dedication.  He knows the rules & regulations. He has agreed to, “answer any questions we have for him.”

With his job comes a huge list of duties for him to perform including and not limited to: “administer building permits, enforce zoning regulations, perform inspections, site plan reviewing, follow up on complaints such as noise, odors, junk, rubbish, garbage, vermin, insects, and illegal use of property.” The list goes on & on to include details under the headings of “Building permits, plumbing inspections, electrical inspections, certifications, provide staff assistance, and administrative duties as well… such as preparing yearly budget, preparing weekly and monthly reports, and supervise code staff.

The Speaker’s Corner meets Sundays 4-5 p.m. at the corner of Park and Main Streets in Rockland next to Rite Aid, and was inspired by Hyde Park London England’s Speaker’s Corner, going strong since the 1800’s. This will be the last one of the year. It will start back up in the spring of 2018. FMI
