Summers leaves town clerk position

South Thomaston — South Thomaston Town Clerk Chelsea Summers has resigned from her position, but will continue to assist the town in the future.
Summers tendered her resignation early in October, and stayed on until mid-November to help with the election.
With her children attending a hybrid school schedule, Summers said she had to focus on her family.
Summers said Town Administrator Owen Casas was supportive of her decision and has deputized her.
“I’m available when they need me,” she said. This could mean filling in for employees who are sick, or helping with elections.
“I absolutely love the residents and staff,” Summers said of South Thomaston, and added that she misses working with them.
Summers is also taking this opportunity to attend classes and finish her bachelor's degree in public administration.
The town has already hired a third person to fill the vacancy in the office, but town clerk duties have reverted to Casas.
Casas will be leaving the town’s employment at the end of January, and the town is currently searching for a new town administrator.
