Summer Celebration at Michael Good

Gil Coyle’s new work is featured in “8457 Knots and Counting” at Michael Good Gallery.

Rockport — Michael Good Gallery will hold its 18th annual Summer Celebration Thursday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m., presenting local multimedia artist Gil Coyle. Located at 325 Commercial St./Route 1, the free event will include complimentary refreshments and music.

Gallery Manager Avi Good said she is really looking forward to this year’s Summer Celebration, the first since moving the gallery back to Rockport to be in the same location as the Michael Good Design Studio.

“We are coming back to our roots, saluting once again an artist and friend we have had the honor and pleasure to work with for many years,” she said. “We really love celebrating at the heart of the summer!”

Coyle will show new work, continuing through Sept. 30. Inspired by recent travels, the knotted fiber pieces are a departure from her previous 2-D portfolios, much of which is currently shown at Michael Good Gallery. Coyle has a teaching and arts degree from Denver University and has attended classes at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, New York University and the Art Students League of New York. She has received numerous awards and her work is included in the permanent collection of the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, as well as in many private and corporate collections around the world.

The Summer Celebration also introduces new works by gallery artists Antonio Bernardo, John Shane and Francois Debien. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, call 236-9623; visit; and check out the gallery’s Facebook and Instagram feeds.
