Student art show continues at Art Loft

Aug 26, 2017
Student and professional photographs are on view and benefit sale at The Art Loft in downtown Rockland.

Rockland — “The Beauty of the Maine Coast” will continue during the month of September at The Art Loft, celebrated with a First Friday Art Walk reception Sept. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the nonprofit community arts center, 385 Main Street, Suite 9 (Thorndike Building).

The exhibition showcases photography of students who have attended photography workshops over the past year with instructor and Art Loft co-founder Paula Apro. The students featured in this show have come to Rockland to practice the craft of creative photography and have captured the area’s gorgeous scenery in the process.

Apro's work also will be on view. All art on display will be available for $150 or less, with all sales directly funding art programs and the prison art project.

Free drinks and snacks will be served during the reception. For more information, call 200-7915. Upcoming at the Art Loft are: Paint Night with Angela Anderson Friday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. ($35); Chinese Traditional Painting with Nanfei Wang Saturday, Sept. 9, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. ($35); and Drawing Animals - Form and Texture with Aubrey Merritt Saturdays, Sept. 9 through 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. ($45 for three-class session).
